Hunting on Ranger Creek Ranch in Texas
(Spring of 2004)

My big Rio shot on Sunday.  He had a 10 inch beard and 1 1/8 inch spurs. He hung up on me and  I had to crawl 30 yards through the grass to get close enough for a shot.  Got him!

Two longbeards that Ed and I got the first 30 minutes we were hunting.  My bird had a 9 inch beard and 1 1/8 inch spurs.  Ed's had 3/4 inch spurs and a 9 inch beard.

Emory's second bird.  He killed him on the same track as the first.  He was a good bird with 1 inch spurs, but had a short beard (broke off, I reckon).

Emory's first bird.  He blew his head off!   He was a good bird with 3/4 inch spurs and an 8 inch beard.  He had a pretty fan didn't he.

This is George's bird.  He took him on Sunday morning.  He was  a good bird with a 9 inch beard and 1 inch spurs.

We killed 6 birds in 3 days, and all of them were longbeards.  The new ranch limit was two birds, so we could only take two.  Emory and I both limited out and George and Ed got one bird each.

Hunting in Arkansas
(Spring of 2004)

Pottsville longbeard I killed behind my house on a windy, rainy, dark morning.  The hunt lasted about 15 minutes.  He weighed over 20 lbs, had a 10 1/2 inch beard and 1 inch spurs.
